'NOT FIT TO BE PM': Ex-Pas leader tells DAP chief to retract 'Anwar a sodomiser' claim

KUALA LUMPUR: FORMER Pas deputy president Nasharudin Mat Isa has demanded that DAP chairman Karpal Singh take a stand over his remark in Parliament regarding opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's sexual habits.

This, Nasharudin said, was to enable Pas to decide whether Anwar can be considered as Pakatan's prime minister candidate.

"Karpal Singh had labelled Anwar as kaki liwat (sodomiser) during a session in 1997 and, therefore, he needs to retract that statement to garner Pas' trust to field Anwar as Pakatan Rakyat's choice for the prime minister post."

Nasharudin, nonetheless said someone with morality issues such as Anwar, whose deeds had even been made known to the public, was not fit to be a leader.

"The matter was raised in the Parliament... Karpal must be firm on his take over the issue which he himself had brought to light.

"He (Karpal) needs to take a stand and clarify the matter as we are talking about choosing a leader who is capable of solving problems, and not be embroiled in them himself."
